Beaumaris, begun in 1295, was the last and largest of the castles to be built by King Edward I in Wales. Raised on an entirely new site, without earlier buildings to fetter its designer's creative genius, it is possibly the most sophisticated example of medieval military architecture in Britain.

Amlwch is situated on the North Eastern corner of Ynys Môn (Anglesey). A small town, with a long history of working traditions. The town grew with the development of copper mining on nearby Mynydd Parys (Parys Mountain), and was once the world's most productive Copper Mine.
Amlwch today offers a wealth of interests to the visitor. Walk along the coast to Point Lynas or Amlwch Port where copper was exported all over the world. Explore the industrial workings of Parys Mountain itself or visit the Heritage Centre for a wealth of information on local history.
